Big Brother 23 — The More Things Change, The More They …. Well, You Get the Idea!

Hi, everyone! The post below is a spoiler if you have yet to watch the premiere of Big Brother 23!

Big Brother is back! Tonight was the premiere episode of the 23rd season of Big Brother. Julie Chen Moonves was back as host, offering up awkward banter and bizarre closing statements. 16 new houseguests entered the house for their chance to win $750,000!

(That’s right — the prize is bigger this year. It’s still not Survivor money, though.)

As many have pointed out, this year features the most diverse cast in Big Brother history. And, as always, Julie told us to “expect the unexpected.” The House has gotten a makeover It’s a beach club now! And yet, for all the changes, it was pretty much a typical first episode of Big Brother. No sooner had the houseguests moved in then they were competing for HoH and being forced into alliances that they might not have otherwise made.

The HGs entered the house in four groups of four. A group of four men entered first, followed by four women and then the other four men and then the other four women. Each group had to compete to see who, of the four, could be the first to put together a picture puzzle. The four winners of the comps went on to select teams of four. Those teams then competed in the HoH comp, with the team captain becoming the new HoH.

If this sounds familiar, it’s because this is hardly the first time Big Brother has tried a teams twist. Actually, they’ve done it quite a few times and it has never worked out well. I’m not a fan of the team twist just because it forces people into alliances before they even get to know each other. The team twist makes me miss old Big Brother, where people would actually talk and alliances would form naturally.

Oh well. Enough complaining for now! Here are the teams:

The Jokers:

Frenchie (team captain)

Azah

Britini

Derek F.

The Aces:

Whitney (team captain)

Brent

Derek X.

Hannah

The Kings:

Christian (team captain)

Alyssa

Xavier

Sarah Beth

The Queens:

Claire (team captain)

Kyland

Tiffany

Travis

The Jokers went on to win the first HoH comp, which means that — as of right now, on the first night of the new season — Frenchie is HoH and Azah, Britini, and Derek F. are all safe because their team won. Everyone else is a possible target.

Who will Frenchie nominate? I have no idea because the live feeds haven’t started yet. I imagine he might go after the opposing team captains, Whitney, Claire, and Christian. We’ll find out soon.

For now, what did everyone think of the premiere? And how long do you think the team twist will last before it’s abandoned? I give it four weeks.

Lisa Marie

P.S. I don’t have a favorite or a least favorite yet. Until the feeds go live later tonight, I’m going to hold off on forming an impression of anyone.

Tonight was interesting! I’m not sure I like the houseguests being forced into a certain group! We shall see! I don’t have any favorites yet! I tend to support the the guests who aren’t sneaky, even though I know that’s part of the game! Nite all! 💗💗

I hate the whole teams thing. It never works and it screws up most of the HGs game right from the beginning. As for favorites… nothing solid yet, but I’m sure that will change quickly! One HG comment though… if Frenchie was serious and is already really-really missing his family, then it’s going to be a long hot summer.. that is if he doesn’t get voted out pretty quickly for winning too many comps right off the bat! Slow down tiger! It’s not a sprint! $750k… maybe BB is hoping the bigger prize will bring forth better HGs in the future. Though you still have to be willing to blow off a summer & blow up your life… permanently… IMHO

I have never seen a second of Big Brother and have no idea what it’s about. That being said, I am completely confident that if I were ever on the show, I would win.
So is it like an indoor Survivor? Because I would totally rule at that.

Indoor Survivor for those not into starving, bugs, uncomfortable sleeping… yeah.. indoor Survivor for sissies! 😂🤣😂🤣 but there’s plenty of lies, backstabbing and mean girls… and don’t forget hookups… you should give a season a try!

They did that team thing years ago and I didn’t like it then and I don’t like it now. What a disappointment.

Thanks for the rundown of the first show, along who is on each team. Hope you have a great day!!

Thanks LM! I’m waiting to make judgements or pick favorites.
I will say I think they did the team thing on purpose. Trying to be pc. Ugh
